What started as a home brewing operation is now a local favorite and 1 block away from the hotel. Bet you didn’t know Oahu is called the gathering island, which explains why Waikiki Brewing Co is one of our go-to spots to hang out. A pub where you can throw back some beers, eat some onion rings, and relax. Local breweries on Oahu are where we meet friends and ‘talk story’, which for us means talk about anything and everything. You don’t have to love or even drink beer to enjoy the brewery. WBC is an interesting way to explore our island and get inspired by their creative take on craft beers.
The brewery scene represents not only a beverage culture but also this cool creative aspect to making beer. The brewmasters at WBC are passionate about their craft and draw inspiration from local culture. Joe Lorenzo the owner of WBC believes “the creative part to be the best part of brewing.”
With names like Aloha Spirit Blonde Ale, 808 Pale Ale, and Trade Winds Pina Colada Ale this is exactly what draws us to such a creative place. Not to mention the brewing operations are right there in the restaurant. Brewed from local ingredients like honey, mac nuts, coffee, and fruit the beers are a unique offering of one-of-a-kind flavors.
Watching them hone their craft is just super cool. When we are opening the hotel we wanted to figure out a way to partner with our neighbors and it made sense to reach out to WBC. They are part of our daily Welcome Party, serving Craft Light on tap every day at 4 PM to our guests. The Welcome Party is a time for us to connect with our guests and learn about where people are visiting from and what they are interested in. Our Aloha Ambassadors (our version of a concierge) are around to answer questions and make some local recommendations.
Although we are known for our tropical surroundings, we also have a pretty killer brewery scene and our friends at Waikiki Brewing Co are brewing some of the most unique items on island. Beer makes for a great beach drink; nothing beats on cold one on a hot day. Trust us on a hot day, any of these will be exactly what you need.
