Hungry Ear Records - Hawaii's Oldest Record Store
A Friend of Romer and music selector in residence, find your groove with Hungry Ear Records.
Every city has a famous record store, Honolulu’s is Hungry Ear. Nestled on the 2nd floor of SALT in Kakaako it is a music lover’s dream. A place where the mundane details of real life disappear for a few hours to consume music.
Hungry Ear is a landmark for people who want to hangout, dig for gems, and talk about every genre under the sun. Each section is carefully curated with the listener in mind. A place for rock, jazz, reggae, and new music.
The staff of cool, interesting, music heads are nearby to chat about whatever style they are an expert in. In business since 1980 their collection is huge and their expertise vast. Hungry Ear specializes in rare Hawaiian albums. Spend some time with the album covers in the Hawaiian section. They take you on a trip back in time that tells a story of our deep, rich, musical culture here in Hawaii.
As part of our Friend of Romer program, Hungry Ear Records is one of our music selectors in residence. Our 2 suites have a record player and a collection of vinyl curated by our friends at Hungry Ear and EP Bar. Both Hungry Ear and the Romer suites are places to make musical moments that will forever remind you of your time on Oahu.
Hungry Ear is one of our favorite places to gather and enjoy whatever we find. We hope you discover something new, add a record to your collection and enjoy the shop as much as we do.
Happy digging!
